The New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, in Ogun State is to challenge the last week’s local government elections in court following the brazen support for the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, during the election.

The state Chairman of the party, Mr. Olaposi Ogini, while addressing a news conference in Abeokuta alleged the Ogun state Independent Electoral Commission, OGISEC, of supporting the state government to rig the local government elections in the state.

The chairman stressed that the party would not spare any effort to ensure that the OGSIEC officials culpable in the irregularities are made to face the wrath of the law.

Mr. Ogini stated that he was disappointed in the commission for serving as a tool in the hand of the state government to rig the elections.

The Ogun State NNPP chairman who cautioned OGSIEC against tampering with the results of Imala Ward in Abeokuta North local government, said the ward returning officer had announced NNPP as the winner with four hundred and sixteen votes as against four hundred votes scored by the APC said the Electoral act was clear on when an officer of the electoral body was seen to have perpetrated fraud.
