Nigerians have been advised to practice eco-friendly farming system that will sustain soil fertility and encourage healthy food production processes.

A Professor of Animal Breeding and Genetics, Babcok University, Ogun State, Professor Abdulrahman Abdullahi gave the advice at an event marking the 2021 International Youth Day, organised by National Youth Council of Nigeria, Oyo State. 

In his keynote address, Professor Abdullahi who decried farmers’ unhygenic conduct in food production especially at the planting stage, said such practice was injurious to human health and preservation of the earth. 

In a goodwill message, Executive Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde, Mr. Idowu Ogedengbe said the present administration in the state is incorporating the youths in its agribusiness development programme through partnership and training. 

Earlier, Oyo State chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Mr. Abdulsalam Abdulquadri appealed to government at all levels to make farming more attractive to youth and support them with funds.
