Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria, MMPN Oyo State Chapter has called for full autonomy for the local government administration to enhance good governance at the grassroots. 

MMPN in a communiqué by its Chairman, Alhaji Ridwan Fasasi at the end of its monthly meeting held on August 29th believed that full autonomy would embolden elected chairmen and councilors to work effectively with security operatives and traditional rulers to manage security as every crime is local. 

A copy of the Communiqué made available to our correspondent in Ibadan equally called on the Federal Government to address the issues bothering on the Autonomy of the Judiciary and Legislative arms of government at the state level.

Alhaji Fasasi also urged the federal government in particular to adopt urgent and pragmatic  security strategies to address the worsening security situation in the country.

He enjoined all and sundry to adhere strictly to COVID-19 protocols by observing necessary protocols as evidences have shown that the Delta variant is deadly. 

Alhaji Fasasi called on Muslims in the state to participate in politics and stop being indifferent to political activities at all levels. 

At the same time, he enjoined religious bodies to get involved in the sensitization on the importance of the ongoing INEC Continuous Voters Registration and ensure collection of Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs at the appropriate time to be eligible to participate in future elections. 

MMPN further charged religious bodies as a matter of patriotism to mobilize faithful for non-discriminatory enrollment in the ongoing NIMC Registration and linking of National Identification Number, NIN with SIM cards.

Alhaji Fasasi admonished parents and guardians to encourage their children and wards to acquire vocational skills that could make them financially empowered in the face of job unavailability and losses.  

“The body also called on government at all levels to address the rate of unemployment and job losses which have continued to take toll on the security of the country”.

“MMPN further called on parents to mentor their children for them to be useful to the society and shun all forms of social vices”.
