Osun State indigenes schooling in University of Jos, Plateau state have been evacuated from Jos by the State government following the civil unrest in Plateau.

Secretary to the State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji received the students on behalf of Governor Gboyega Oyetola. 

Plateau which is part of north-central zone has in the last two weeks been battling with renewed unrest in some parts of the state.

In a remark, Secretary to the State Government Prince Wole Oyebamiji, commended security operatives especially the Nigerian Police for ensuring security of the students into the state. 

Prince Oyebamiji charged the students to have renewed faith about the Unity and peaceful co-existence of Nigeria, saying with commitment of all citizens the situation will be over. 

Earlier, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students Affairs and Social Mobilization, Comrade Kehinde Ayantuji, explained that the pressure to evacuate the students of Osun origin heated up about 48hours when the student could not bare the crisis in Jos. 

Comrade Ayantunji said the students of Osun origin would have been evacuated earlier, but for their reluctance in coming home, adding those who wanted to leave had left with some other states.

The Coordinator of the students Miss Oluwasanmi Sinmiloluwa, narrating the ordeal said, Jos was tensed and the lives of the students were threatened as the crisis thickened.

She stated that their earlier reluctance was based on assumption that the attack would be over in few days. 

Miss Oluwasanmi thanked the police authority who she said used Armoured Personnel Carrier to pick students from their hostel to where they were conveyed to Osun.

Special Adviser to the Osun state Governor on Education, Alhaji Jamiu Olawumi described the Jos incident as madness, advising the students not to allow the incident to dampen their resolve about Nigeria’s unity.
