The Ogun State Government has implored Town Planning Officers in the state to take advantage of modern technology to advance the profession, ensure sanity in the sector and to move the state towards achieving proper town planning.

Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr. Tunji Odunlami who gave the advice in Abeokuta, at a two-day retreat for Zonal Planning Officers with the theme: “Strategy Planning and Vision Sharing”, said acquisition of knowledge would help to take stock of development and make planning ahead easier in order to achieve set objectives.

Mr. Odunlami reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to capacity building of critical stakeholders in the sector, particularly the town planning officers, to enforce international best practices in the discharge of their duties.

The commissioner described the retreat as an opportunity to bring officers together to cross-fertilise ideas for effective service delivery and a time to reflect on the past performance with a view to improving on them.

Speaking on “Vision Sharing, Target Analysis and Strategic Action Planning/ Future Plans”, a resource person, Mr. Adedayo Olowolagba underscored the importance of target analysis and the strategic action plans needed to achieve a goal, pointing out that planning permit process had been reduced to maximum of seven days for Simple Applications and 14 days for Major Application tagged 7-7-14.

Earlier, the Acting General Manager, Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority, Mr. Kolawole Ogun had advised the officers to always work in tandem with the physical planning law.
