Public and private primary and secondary Schools in Ibadan have resumed for the first term in the 2021/2022 academic session.
Our correspondent who monitored the situation reports that while some students were learning under conducive atmosphere others were not lucky due to lack of facilities.
During visit to some of the schools in Ibadan, some students were happy for their reunion with colleagues and teachers in their new class.
Apart from the usual morning assembly that were held, general cleaning of classrooms and surroundings of blocks of classroom were undertaken by the students.
At C&S New Eden primary school, Mokola, IMG primary and secondary school sharp corner Oke Bola, Ajibode community and grammar school the school premises were bushy while the student were cleaning the chairs, tables and blocks of classrooms vicinity.
Radio Nigeria also observed at I.MG primary and secondary school that some student were sitting on the floor while teaching was taken place under damaged roof.
This is aside the stinking nature of the some of the classrooms where dried and fresh human and animal feaces little the floor.
The principal of the IMG grammar who neither want his name mentioned nor recorded and his counterpart at I.MG primary practising school said fence of the school needed to be worked upon to secure the school premises from hoodlums
The story was however different at Oba Akinbiyi High School as teachers resumption coincided with letters of promotion given them in joyful mood of the teachers
A junior student including the senior boy and the senior girl of the school expressed joy for the resumption
The principal of the Oba akinbiyi school 2, Mrs Folashade Ayodele said the teachers were well prepared for the new academic session.
Mrs Ayodele urged the teachers to justify the promotion through hardwork and renewed commitment to duties.
Meanwhile as students resume in Oyo town today for the 2021/2022 academic year, parents and teachers have appealed to commercial motorcycle operators popularly called Okada to exercise caution in their day to day activities.
In many of the schools visited, it was observed that class work has commenced amidst untidy environment with low turnout of students.
