To enjoy a prosperous and more organized society, stakeholders in politics should imbibe the spirit of transparency, fairness and selflessness.

A guest on Radio Nigeria Ogo-Ilu FM program, Ojukoju, Alhaji Salman Husain made the call while speaking on the nation’s Political system.

Alhaji Husain who is a People’s Democratic Party chieftain in Ejigbo said politics was not the problem but the way it was practiced.

“Our political parties have laid down ideologies including progressives, welfarist, conservative among others but Political actors have failed to play the game according to the rules.

That is why you see people moving to and fro parties”Husain said.

While expressing worry on how sanctity had been eroded in the nation’s Political system, Alhaji Husain said there was the need for the present day politicians to learn from the political legacies of the likes of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

“Electorate expect more from politicians they voted them into power. The power to be in power belongs to the electorate which must be cherished” he said.

The PDP Chieftain maintained that, though politics was a game, those who play it must act according to the needs and demands of the masses.

“Democratic government is meaningful when the masses enjoy dividends of democracy in the country, Husain added.

He therefore commended the efforts of various governments in the country for putting efforts in place to ensuring sanctity of law and order in the country.
