Sport coaches at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Liberty Ibadan have called on Federal Government to expedite action on the contract processes of the stadium.

They made the call at while speaking with Radio Nigeria correspondent who was on assessment tour of the international stadium.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria a weight lifting coach at the stadium, Mr. Kehinde Olayinka and an ex-Rangers, United, Mr. Kokuma Kekedo said the state of the stadium was pathetic and long overdue for repair.

While stressing that the obsolete weight lifting materials were being augmented with local materials, Mr. Olayinka said lack of requisite equipment in the stadium would not enhance talent discovery.

In his opinion, the former rangers and shooting player, Mr. Kekedo, said Obafemi Awolowo Stadium had hosted numerous sports event, adding that the deplorable state of the stadium would continue to force sport talent to approach other substandard stadium for practice

Our correspondent reports that aside scanting and torn chairs of sports administrators, the swimming facilities were in shamble while the football and lawn tennis pitch were in poor condition.
