Ogun State Police Command had arrested a forty-eight-year-old butcher, Segun Taiwo over the death of his fifty-year-old lover, Abimbola Olusola whose corpse was found by the roadside around Aro Area of Abeokuta.
A statement by the command spokesman, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspect was arrested after a police investigation linked him to the suspect’s death.
He explained that the Homicide Section through an investigation into the death of the deceased after it was reported at Lafenwa Police Station had traced the death to the residence of the suspect who earlier denied knowing the deceased.
Mr. Abimbola said the suspect later confessed to having been dating the deceased since last year when confronted with evidence and that he invited her to pass the night with him since his wife was not at home.
The police command spokesman said the suspect said the deceased developed sickness midnight after sex and died afterwards.
He stated that the suspect also confessed to taking the corpse in his car and dumping it at Aro Area where it was recovered by the police.
Mr. Oyeyemi hinted that the suspect said he acted in such a manner out of fear.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Lanre Bankole who commended the professional handling of the investigation has directed that the suspect be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded and appealed to the public to always make their whereabouts known to their relatives whenever they have cause to go out.
