It has been a beehive of activities at the ongoing 1st South West Local Government Agric and Mineral Resources Trade Fair hosted by the Osun State Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives.
Local Governments in Osun State have been displaying their natural and economic endowment deposited in their domains.
During one of such exhibitions by Ilesa West Local Government, an official of the council, Mr. Olasupo Idowu said the local government was sitting atop over ten mineral resources in commercial quantities including gold and other precious metal.
Similarly, Ede North Local Government exhibited food crops including Yam, Cassava and plantain.
The Head of Agric Department in Ede Local Government who led the exhibition explained that the Internally Generated Revenue capacity of Ede rested on Agriculture, particularly fish farming.
Addressing participants at the exhibition, the Iyaloja General of Osun State, Alhaja Awawu Asindemade urged residents of the state not only to embrace Agriculture but adopt organic food as a major part of their diet because of its rich nutrients and medicinal value.
Similarly, a sewing competition sponsored by the Director of Commerce, Mrs. Falode Ajibola was also held for ten selected female tailors at the Trade Fair.
An official of the Ministry, Mrs. Babatunde Funmilayo said the event was to stimulate the competitive capacity of the fashion designers and make their products sought after.
The Head of Marketing, Radio Nigeria Gold FM, Mrs. Kemi Oni also witnessed the event.
The exhibition continues on Wednesday, featuring Boripe, Ife South, Ede South, Atakumosa West and Ife North Local Governments
