Former Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr Abdul Hakeem Abdul Lateef, has advocated restructuring to address current agitations for secession in the country.

The Renowned Scholar, who spoke at the 4th Minaret Professional Group lecture, tagged The Professionals and Nation Building: A call to duty, held at Bodija Estate and Environs Muslim Community Centre, Ibadan, noted that there should be devolution of power at Centre to give birth to state policing and other factors that would promote the peaceful co-existence in the country.

Dr Abdul Lateef, who is also the Chief Imam of Lagos House of Assembly Mosque also, stressed the need for good parenting to curb immorality and corruption in the country.

He said imbibing the virtues of the Prophet Muhammad remains only way to curtail the myriad of crises being witnessed in the country.

The former Commissioner called on Muslim professionals to be sincere in carrying out their callings and be good ambassadors of Islam.

He advised Muslims in various Professions not to leave the propagation of Islam entirely to traditional scholars, saying they must also be actively involved.

The event, which also featured another lecture tittled: Digital Currencies and Shari’ah perspectives, delivered by Dr Bunyaamin Ballo of Islamic University of Menodsola, Senegal Campus, who submitted that paper money and digital currencies were babies of necessity which were not in tandem with Islamic regulations guiding financial transactions.

Dr Ballo enjoined Muslims to the utilize the digital currencies in a way that would not run contrary to Islamic injunction, saying that there were regulations on Islamic financing.

In his goodwill message, the Executive Secretary, Muslim Ummah of Southwest Nigeria, MUSWEN, Professor Muslih Yahya commended the organizer for coming up with the programme, pointing out that it highlighted various ruling guiding Islamic financing.

Professor Yahya enjoined Muslim Professionals to employ their callings to contribute to development Islam and the Nation’s building.

In a remark, the Assistant Coordinator, Minaret Professional group, MPG, Mallam Abdul Lateef Amuda, said the purpose of the lecture was to explore their expertise to move the country forward and promote propagation of Islam.
