Ogun state police command has arrested a thirty-five years old, suspect, Eluyera Wasiu for planning with one Adeniyi Samuel to kill his pregnant wife.
According to a statement by the Ogun State Police Command spokesman, Mr Oyeyemi Abimbola, the suspect and his accomplice, were arrested following information received by the police stating that it was during interrogation that the suspect opened up and informed the police that Eluyera Wasiu contracted him to kill his pregnant wife.
He stated that his husband promised to give him ten thousand naira for the job, out of which he had already given him five thousand naira and to pay the balance on completion of the job.
Mr Oyeyemi explained that the investigation revealed that the main suspect was married to the pregnant wife but got separated due to irreconcilable differences and married to another woman.
The police spokesman said the suspect again met with his former wife resulting in pregnancy and in order not to upset his new wife the suspect engaged his accomplish to eliminate the former wife having disagreed to terminate the pregnancy.
Mr Oyeyemi said it was an argument over non-refund of the money they gave away the lead on the crime.
The Ogun state commissioner of police, Mr Lanre Bankole, has ordered a thorough investigation of the case with the view to arraign the suspect in court as soon.
