Operatives of Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 38-year-old man, Daniel Udoh for allegedly stabbing, his mistress’s husband, Emeka Umonko to death.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the arrest of the suspect in a statement in Abeokuta.
Mr Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested after the policemen attached to Onipanu divisional headquarters received a call that the suspect, a commercial driver had stabbed the deceased to death after a fight between the two men.
The PPRO explained that the deceased had accused the suspect of having illicit affair with his wife, and this led to a serious fight between the two men.
He said the suspect was arrested at the scene of the incident and a knife was recovered from him.
Mr Oyeyemi noted that the remains of the victim had been deposited at Ifo general hospital mortuary for post mortem examination.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Lanre Bankole has directed that the suspect be transferred to the homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department, for further investigation, with the view to charging him to court as soon as the investigation was concluded.
