The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Ogun State command has announced plans to enforce installation of speed limiting devices in commercial vehicles and deploy radar guns for speed detection and control to reduce road traffic crashes.

FRSC Public Education Officer, Mrs Florence Okpe who disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta said the enforcement would take effect as soon as possible in collaboration with other sister agencies including the Nigerian Army, Police among others.

According to Mrs Okpe, speed violation which is due to human error accounted for over 77 percent of road traffic crashes in the state in the year under review leaving over 300 victims dead, about 1200 victims injured and over 200 vehicles involved in crashes.

While stressing that space buses had high involvement in crashes, the Corps however advised commercial motorists especially owners of space buses to install speed limiting devices in their vehicles and desist from acts that can pose as threats to them and other road users, as life has no duplicate.
