The Ogun State Police Command says the purported list of suspected internet fraudsters known as Yahoo boys, circulating on social media alleged to have emanated from the command was fake.

According to a statement by the spokesman of the command, Mr. Abímbólá Oyeyemi the command would have ignored the said list, but was reacting to prevent extortionists from using the list to perpetrate evil acts on those on the list.

Mr. Oyeyemi said the command had no Assistant Commissioner of police with the name Yahaya Wakilu who signed the list noting that no Assistant commissioner of Police serving under a Deputy commissioner of police will use a red pen to sign any document.

The police command spokesman also noted the phone number on the fake police letterhead used to compile the list was that of a retired Commissioner of Police, who was one time in charge of Operations in the Command.

Mr. Oyeyemi then appealed to members of the public to disregard the said list as the command has nothing to do with it noting that the command will continue to work with other relevant agencies to wage war against crimes and criminality in the state.
