A former Commissioner of Environment in Ekiti State, Otunba Bisi Kolawole has been elected as the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the June 8th Governorship Election in Ekiti State.

Otunba Kolawole who was supported by the immediate past governor of the State, Mr Ayodele Fayose polled six hundred and seventy-one to defeat his closest rival, former governor Olusegun Oni who polled three hundred and thirty votes

Announcing the results of the primary election, Chairman of Ekiti PDP Electoral Committee, Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State declared Otunba Bisi Kolawole as the winner of the primary election having polled the highest number of votes.

Governor Emmanuel appealed to the winner to embrace others contestants and seek their support ahead of the governorship poll.

Reacting, the winner of the primary election, Otunba Bisi Kolawole appreciated all PDP members in the state and promised to reach out to other contestants, saying their efforts would give the party victory during the Governorship Election.

On his part, one of the aspirants, Chief Segun oni who Congratulated the winner said the process was peaceful.

Meanwhile, before the commencement of the primary election, a lawmaker representing Ekiti South at the National Assembly, Senator Biodun Olujimi had withdrawn from the contest on the allegation that the list of the delegates had been doctored.

Thirteen aspirants contested the election including Senator Biodun Olujimi who later stepped down.
