The second assembly of Oyo state youth Parliament has been commissioned, having Mr Israel Fawole from Ibadan south East constituency 2 as the new speaker.

In an open ballot election conducted by the clerk of the youth Parliament, Mr Isiaka Adetunji, the new speaker polled twenty three votes to defeat his opponent, Mr Ojo Aderemi, Ibadan north constituency 2 who polled 3.

The Parliament also elected its deputy speaker, Miss aishat Oladiti representing Lagelu constituency who won with seventeen votes to beat her contender, Mr Ogundiran Oluwaseun Orelope constituency.

In his acceptance speech, Speaker of the Oyo state youth Parliament, Mr  Israel Fawole promised the Assembly’s readiness to represent the interest of the youths and address their needs, especially at the grassroot.

Speaking after the commissioning, Oyo state Commissioner for youth and sports, Mr Seun Fakorede challenged the youth parliamentarians to contribute meaningfully to the decision making process of the present administration in the state.

Mr Fakorede also advised the youth lawmakers to advise state government on ways to move the state forward especially issues concerning the youths of the state

“I also want to use this medium to sound a note of warning to the youth Parliamentarians that the state government is not ready to support any act of insurbodination that will disturb the peace of the state”.

Present at the commissioning were the chairman, house of assembly committee on youth and sports, Mr Fola Oyekunle, Chairman house of assembly service commission, Mr Abdulwasi Musa and special advisers to Governor Seyi Makinde on Legislative, students and youth and sports.
