A 17 year old boy identified as Aliyu Danjuma from Katsina State has been arrested by night guards at Omisanjana area of Ado Ekiti for allegedly vandalizing the transformer serving the area.
Radio Nigeria gathered that the suspect was caught at the site of the transformer while removing some cables.
Some residents of the area alleged that the transformer was vandalised twice last year which made the community to experience four months darkness before they contributed money to repair it.
The residents claimed that they decided to hire night guards purposely to secure the transformer. Danjuma was arrested with saw and other items he used to cut some cables in the transformer.
According to the video which has gone viral, the suspected vandal had been beaten into a state of coma before he was handed to security operatives for interrogations.
