Oyo state government has disbursed about 250 million naira to selected retirees in the state to clear outstanding gratuity owed them by the previous administration.

The commissioner for Establishment and Training, Alhaji Siju Lawal presented symbolic cheques to some of the retirees at the Agodi, Secretariat, Ibadan.

Alhaji Lawal explained that the beneficiaries were drawn from December 2013 to January 2014 noting that the current administration would continue in same pattern till the outstanding gratuities were offset.

He said the present government has cleared over 15 billion naira having met a huge debt of about 55.9 billion naira by the previous administration.

Alhaji Lawal therefore called on the over 100 beneficiaries of the disbursed gratuity to always support government’s policies, use their gratuity wisely and avoid investment in Ponzi schemes or dubious investment schemes.
