Ondo state government is committed to formulating enduring environmental policies and strategies to protect and restore the ecosystem and mitigate pollution impacts across the State.

Commissioner for environment, Mr Sunday Akinwalire made this known at a stakeholders meeting on the operations of the state’s environmental protection agency, ODSEPA in Akure.

Mr Akinwalire enjoined the citizens to sustain the environment instead of adding to the existing climatic and atmospheric degradation.

Also, The Special Adviser to the governor on environment, overseeing ODSEPA, Mr  Oyeniyi Oseni said all segments of the society especially the industrial and commercial operators must join hands to ensure a clean, safe and healthy environment for the development of the society.

Mr Oseni solicited the cooperation of all to achieve compliance as the agency moves to enforce mechanisms that would solve environmental problems in the state.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Pastor Akin Asaniyan pledged effective collaboration between the ministry and ODSEPA.

Stakeholders at the forum called for collaboration with the media and the private sector to ensure strict compliance with environmental laws.

They also recommended annual environmental audit of all existing industries in the state and engagement of experts as well as the instrument and legal backings to regulate, and protect the environment.
