An Ota Magistrate Court in Ogun State has remanded two suspects in the correctional centre for attempted murder and attack on one Chief Shodiya Tajudeen.

Magistrate A.O Adeyemi after listening to the charges against the two suspects ordered that the defendants be remanded at Ibara correctional facility in Abeokuta pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The prosecuting police officer, Mr Beyioku Kehinde informed the court that, the defendants with others still at large had attacked the Egba high Chief with dangerous weapons at Adekoyeni village in Atan-Ota, Ado Odo-Ota Local Government Area of the State.

He explained that the suspects inflicted matchet cuts on the victim after which they poured petrol on him and were about to set him ablaze.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State and sought the order of the court to remand the respondents for 60 days at the correctional centre which was granted.

The Magistrate also adjourned the case to the second day of May 2022 for mentioning.
