Sons and daughters of Ibadan land, residents and well-wishers are full of high spirit as the coronation of the new Olubadan of Ibadan land Dr Olalekan Balogun, gathers momentum.
Our correspondent who visited the Ali Iwo family compound of the Olubadan-elect reported that the atmosphere was that of celebration and high expectation for the coronation.
Traditional drummers and singers were entertaining visitors with drums while last-minute repairs and cleaning of buildings were being carried out.
Aside from the cows that were tied down waiting to be slaughtered, the banners with congratulatory messages flooded the visible main building of the family house.
One of the sons in the Ali Iwo compound, Prince Olakunle Giwa, said different committees were set up to ensure smooth coronation
Radio Nigeria correspondent also observed that petty traders used the opportunity to make brisk business through the sale of hand bands and calendars capturing the event of the day.
Tents were also being set on the road as part of preparations for the coronation.
Similarly, the ancient Mapo Hall in Ibadan, the venue of the coronation is already wearing a new look as captured by our correspondent
During an assessment visit to the place, our correspondent reports that decorations of the hall by different contractors were ongoing while some security personnel were present at the venue.
Speaking with Radio Nigeria, the Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor on Security,Mr. Fatai Owoseni said adequate security would be put in place ahead of the ceremony to guard against any eventuality.
Radio Nigeria also observed that Dome tent, different colours of canopies, mixed fans, sound system and stage stands had been erected while the cleaning of the environment was ongoing.
