Following Wednesday night’s downpour accompanied by storm, many families have been rendered homeless in Omuo Ekiti, Ekiti East Local Government.

The rainstorm affected no fewer than one hundred buildings including five schools, markets and some churches which have their roofs partially or completely blown off.

Some of the areas mostly affected are, Iludofin, Oda Odo, Oruju, Ilisa and Iloro quarters.

The Olomuo of Omuo Ekiti, Oba Noah Omonigbehin who went round the town to assess the situation, said the community lost property worth millions of naira to the rainstorm.

Oba Omonigbehin, therefore, appealed to both the state and local governments as well as the state Emergency Management Agency, SEMA to urgently come to their aid in Omuo Community.

He however appreciated God that no life was lost to the incident.

“God has been very good to us here in Omuo, because of the incident of this magnitude happened and no single soul was lost to it, it is a sign that God loves this town, the royal father said”

In their reactions, High Chief Osatuyi Olugbenga and Chief Taiwo Alonge said the victims needed urgent assistance as they had vacated their houses and now squatting with their loved ones.
