In order to reduce infant mortality, the Coalition of Ogun Women on Maternal Health has demanded immediate provision of a Mobile Ultrasound Vehicle System for pregnant mothers in the state, especially in the rural areas.

Vice President of the Association, Mrs Funmilayo Oguniyi, made the plea during an advocacy visit by the group of women on maternal health to the state House of Assembly in Abeokuta to mark the 2022 International Women’s Day celebration.

Mrs Oguniyi, who requested two mobile ultrasound vehicle systems each in the three senatorial districts, explained that the equipment would facilitate the accessibility of pregnant women in rural areas to the ultrasound services.

She also appealed that government should allocate slots for pregnant women under the state health insurance scheme, noting that the group would continue to discuss women’s achievements, raise awareness about violence against women and maternal mortality.
