The Unit Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Moniya, Ibadan, Mrs Florence Alade stated this while speaking with Radio Nigeria.

Mrs Alade said, Nigeria, as a country changed from right hand drive to left hand drive exactly fifty years ago, stressing that anyone driving right hand drive vehicles are expected to effect the change to the left-hand drive or face the wrath of the law .

Also speaking on the issue, two residents of Ibadan, Mr. Clement Olomola and Mr. Olawale Moshood, stated that owners of right-hand drive vehicles should always be law abiding by converting them to left hand drive before putting them on Nigerian roads.

Nigeria banned the use of right-hand steering vehicles in the country following the change from right hand to left hand drive on the nation’s roads in 1972.

A Right-Hand Steering Drive change-over Act of 1972 was enacted to make it an offence for anyone to import or use right-hand steering vehicle in the country.
