An expectant mother has been reportedly killed by Lassa Fever disease in Osun State.

The Special Adviser to Osun State Governor on Public Health, Dr Olasiji Olamiju, gave the information during a sensitization programme in Osogbo for market women.

Dr Olamiju explained that the expectant woman was diagnosed to have died of the deadly disease.

He said, though the disease had not escalated, the department of public health would not relent in putting necessary preventive measures in place in the State.

In separate interviews, the State Epidemiologist, Dr. Omolola Adeagbo, the State Surveillance Officer, NCDC, Mr Ohuneni Stephen and the World Health Organization (WHO) Focal Person for the State, Dr Fatoki Bashir described the campaign as an important activity to sensitize the populace about Lassa Fever and make them more cautious in order to prevent the outbreak of the disease.

Earlier, Head, Oluode Market, Sidikatu Lateef said the leadership of the market had taken proactive step to safeguard traders and customers against the disease.
