Government of the United States of America has expressed readiness to partner Osun State government to ensure a credible election during the July 16 2022 governorship poll.

A US government delegation led by the US Embassy Political and Economic Chief, Mr Brandon Hudspeth, made this promise during a courtesy visit to the Osun State governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola at the Governor’s Office, Abere.

Mr Hudspeth informed that his team would be meeting election stakeholders in the state ahead of the election as there are expectations within and outside the country over the forthcoming election.

Responding, Governor Oyetola assured that the 2022 Osun State governorship election would set the pace for the general elections in 2023, boasting that the APC remains the party to beat, while he remains the candidate to beat in the electoral contest.

He recalled that, in 2018, the state received a Us delegation that wanted to know the programme his party had for the people ahead of election, stressing that his administration was able to meet the expectations of the US and other missions that are interested in Nigeria’s democracy.

The governor highlighted his administration’s achievements in the area of health, infrastructure, economy, education, security, youth empowerment and mining.

Governor Oyetola also stressed government’s efforts towards changing the narrative of the state from a civil service-dominated economy by leveraging on its agriculture, tourism and mining potentials.
