Stakeholders have described issues concerning security as everybody’s responsibility.

They stated this at the Security Summit held at the Broadcasting House, Gold FM, Iloko-ijesa Road, Ilesa in Osun State.

The Officer-in-charge at ‘A’ Division, Ilesa, ASP Chris-Olaiya Babatunde in his submission identified the fading away of proper societal values, parental carelessness and underage marriage as some of the causes of crime in the society.

ASP Babatunde who pointed out that only about 35% of the nation’s youths were lawfully engaged, called on government at all levels to create more job opportunities.

In his contribution, the representative of the National Orientation Agency, NOA, Mr Lekan Abodunrin noted that, there was no law against cultism in the country urging the National Assembly to enact a law that will ensure that perpetrators face the wrath of the law.

Similarly, Osun East Area Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Mr Dapo Osanyingbe who said charity begins at home, decried the lackadaisical attitude of some parents toward the moral training of their children.

Also speaking, the Area Commander, Osun State Security Agency, Amotekun, Mr Oluwasegun Ilori emphasized the need for parents to allow their children have social interactions with other people and not keep them indoors all the time.

In a remark, the royal father of the day, the Owemo of Odo-Owemoloore, Oba Aderogba Oginni called for synergy between residents and security agencies to improve security.

Earlier, the General Manager, Gold FM, Ilesa, Mr Adedamola Tinubu while thanking the stakeholders for honouring the invitation to the summit, urged Osun State residents to be security-conscious and always be their brothers’ keepers.
