An Islamic Scholar, Sheik Olasunkanmi Ewuoso has attributed the increasing rate of cultism, rape and rituals for wealth and other social vices among teenagers to bad parenting.
The scholar made the remark while delivering the Ramadan Lecture organised by the office of the Special Assistant to the Ogun State Governor on Students Matters held in Abeokuta.
Sheik Ewuoso said the society would continue to have challenges threatening its peaceful coexistence once the family institution was not put in order.
The scholar maintained that restoring good parenting was key to the restoration of a peaceful society and advised the government to enforce compliance with legislation aimed at ensuring family values.
The special assistant to the Ogun State Governor on Students Matters, Comrade Azeez Adeyemi in a remark, called on the students in Ogun State to continue to embrace dialogue with the authorities and shun the destruction of government property.
The Ramadan Lecture with the theme “Maintaining Your Sanity in an Insane World” was organised for students in tertiary institutions across Ogun State.
