Care of parents, especially in their old age and Godly parenting came as charge to Muslims by the Chief Imam of Arameen Mosque, Ejigbo, Alhaji Mooshood Isiak during a Ramadan lecture in Ejigbo.

The lecture was organised by the former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Dr. Najeem Salaam in Ejigbo.

The Chief Imam emphasised the role of children to their parents, as stipulated by the Quran to include obedience to them and care for them in their old age.

He also reminded parents that they had sacred obligations from God to raise their children properly in the way of Allah.

The Cleric described poor parenting as the foundation of drug abuse, criminality and insecurity in Nigeria.

He pointed out that every criminal tendency manifested in people started from their childhood under the watch of their parents but unfortunately we’re not addressed and had now become a burden on the society.

Earlier, the former Speaker of the Osun House of Assembly, who is now the Executive Director, Marketing and Business Development, NIGCOMSAT, Dr. Najeem Salaam, said the lecture was not connected to politics, but to further remind the people that only a close relationship with God could aid the progress of Nigeria.

Dr. Salaam explained that religious lectures had the capacity to influence the behaviour of people and invariably impact on national peace and security.
