Pensioners in Ogun State have organized a day prayer session to seek divine intervention over the non- payment of their owed sixty eight billion naira gratuity and allowances by the state government.
The senior citizens who converged on their state secretariat in Abeokuta sought God’s intervention in both Islamic and Christian ways on their plights.
The State chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Comrade Waheed Oloyede while speaking to newsmen after the prayer said the union had resolved to prayer to remove obstacles preventing the state governor from addressing their plights with the conviction that prayer can solve all problems.
The Chairman highlighted the union demands to include increment in the pensioners monthly take home and the quarterly released five hundred Million naira to one billion naira.
The demands also include the release of the deducted Contributory Pensions to their respective Pensions Fund Administrator and the constitution of the Pensions Committee which will administer the affairs of their union.
Mr. Oloyede however, declared that the union would not hesitate to stage an open protest to occupy the main roads of the Abeokuta metropolis should the state government failed to meet up with their demands at the end of May, 2022.
