Invest More in Education to Curb Social Vices, Cleric Implores Govt

National Missioner, Ansar Ud deen Society of Nigeria, Sheikh Abdurraham Olarewaju has urged the government at levels to invest massively in the education sector to curb get rich syndrome among the Nigerian youth.

Sheikh Olarewaju made the plea while delivering a lecture entitled, “Get Rich Quick Syndrome: Refocusing the Nigerian Youth for a Greater Future” at a special Ramadan Iftar held at the Arcade ground, Oke Mosan Abeokuta.

Sheikh Olarewaju maintained that massive investment in both formal and informal education sectors would raise youths’ productivity and creativity as well as promote entrepreneurship.

While condemning the growing increase in money ritual, drug abuse, rape, kidnapping, Internet fraud and other social vices, Sheikh Olarewaju advised youths to desist from illicit and destructive behaviours capable of jeopardizing their future.

The religious leader also called on parents to be alive to their responsibilities, adding that good parenting was necessary to curb get rich quick syndrome among the youths.

In a remark, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun who said his administration would continue to formulate policies and implement programmes to harness the potential of the youths for nation-building, encouraged youths in the state to take advantage of his administration’s social intervention programmes to realize their dreams.

Governor Abiodun also said that his administration would continue to identify the internet fraudster, popularly known as Yahoo Boys, and use their smartness for positive ventures.
