Osun State Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola has flagged off for rehabilitation, the Osogbo, Okini, Ilobu and Erinle road.
Performing the ceremony on the Ilobu stretch of the road, Governor Oyetola said the rehabilitation project was in response to the yearning of the people.
The Governor explained that the road which would cost the state government over three billion naira would be completed in twelve months.
He urged residents of the area to give the contractor necessary support, as he cautioned against imposition of any illegal fees and charges on those working on the site.
Earlier, the Osun State Commissioner for works, Housing and Transport, Mr Remi Omowaye explained that the road was a Federal Government road, awarded about thirteen years ago, but nothing was done on it.
Mr Omowaye stressed that going by the importance of the road to the economy of the state, the Governor had to enter an agreement with the Federal Government to take over the rehabilitation of the road.
In a remark, one of the residents of the community and former Secretary to Osun State government, Chief Sola Akinwumi described the intervention of Osun State to take over the road as a gesture the people would forever be grateful for.
Similarly, the Senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District, Dr Ajibola Basiru said people were not concerned about classification of roads as Federal or state but the good condition of the roads.
