The Chairman, Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, OYSIEC, Aare Isiaka Olagunju, SAN, has emerged as the first elected chairman, Yoruba Lawyers Forum.

    Aare Olagunju emerged unopposed to lead the eight member governing council of the Yoruba silks also known as Egbe Amofin Oodua across branches in the South West for the next two years.

     In his acceptance speech, Aare Olagunju pledged to ensure unity among members, empower the young lawyers and uplift the association’s status to become a force to reckon with in the Nigerian Bar.

    Earlier, the outgoing caretaker chairman of the association, Professor Oluwole Akintayo explained that his committee has delivered on its mandate which includes deepen friendship among Yoruba legal practitioners, recommendation of trustees to the general assembly and registration of the association.

    In an interview, some members of the association including the former chairman, Nigerian Bar Association, Ibadan Branch, Mr. Ibrahim Lawal, Mr. Adesina Adegbite, SAN and the newly sworn-in vice chairman, Mrs Oluwatoyin Bashorun, SAN said they are hopeful that the new executives would foster unity, use their connections  to improve court facilities across the South West.

  Other members of the newly sworn-in executives of the Yoruba Lawyers Forum are the secretary, Mr. Adetunji Osho, Assistant Secretary, Mr. Ademola Ikujuni, Financial Secretary, Mr. Rotimi Oyadola, the Treasurer, Mr. Rotimi Olorunfemi, the Publicity Secretary, Olayinka Sokoya, the Welfare Secretary, Mr. Paul Akomolafe and the Auditor, Mr. Moshood Abiola.

    Highlights of the event were presentation of commendation certificates to the Electoral Committee headed by Alhaji Tajudeen Oladoja, SAN, caretaker Committee members and outstanding members for their contributions to the development of the association.
