An explosion today rocked the St Francis Catholic Church, Owa-luwa Street, in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, even as many dead bodies were seen at the scene.
It was gathered that the bomb attack allegedly carried out by suspected Bandits, which occurred on the church premises behind Olowo of Owo palace, left many dead and others injured.
An Eyewitness, Kehinde Ogunkorode told newsmen that the incident caused pandemonium in the area as residents, who were taken by surprise, ran for safety.
The eyewitness who sent pictures of the incident to show gory details of the incident.
The priest of the church was reportedly kidnapped during the commotion while scores of worshippers died and many injured.
Death toll cannot be ascertained as at the time of filling in this report.
Meanwhile , Ondo State governor who has been in Abuja on an assignment for the APC primary Election taking place in Abuja is on his way back to visit Owo.
A statement by his Chief Press Secretary , Richard Olatunde says the governor was deeply sad by the incident and had deployed security agencies to Owo to restore normalcy
