As political parties begin their campaigns for gubernatorial elections in Osun State, the state chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) wants politicians to abstain from using hate speech in their campaigns.

The organization urged political parties to engage the service of professionals in their campaigns to avoid prejudice.

The chairman of the NIPR in the state, Mr. Adesoji Ademola stated this while addressing journalists in Osogbo on a peace summit organized for gubernatorial candidates in the coming Osun governorship election.

Given the intensity of electioneering and the emotions it generates, Mr. Ademola said it had become imperative for the NIPR to engage stakeholders to ensure peace and order during the campaigns.

In the summit theme, “Sustaining Our Values Beyond Elections” the NIPR according to Ademola would be engaging with the gubernatorial candidates and stakeholders on behalf of the public and the people of Osun State.

“During this engagement, we shall be focusing on how the candidates intend to sustain the cherished peace of the State. Precisely, all the Gubernatorial candidates representing the political parties in the state will converge at the venue to share their views on the topic “Osun 2022: A State, Its Politics, Economy and Image.”
