There have been mixed feelings in Oyo town and neighbouring communities of Awe, Ilora, Jobele and Fiditi following the heaviest prolonged rainfall so far this year.
The downpour which lasted for almost eight hours started late last night with light thunderstorms.
Radio Nigeria gathered that the outcome of the heavy rainfall in some areas reported that apart from fish ponds and houses that were flooded especially in Oyo West local government area, culverts were washed away with roads becoming impassable.
Still drizzling at the time of filing this report, the rain-affected the punctuality of pupils in their various schools and restricted the movement of other residents to their various places of work.
However, the rainfall was regarded as a blessing by people who have no access to potable water or means of digging wells due to the rocky terrain of their area.

Oyo Town Residents also Count Loses
Also, the People of Obananko, Aseyori community of Oyo town, Oyo state are beginning to count their losses following yesterday’s downpour.
The downpour was said to have started around eleven o’clock Monday evening and lasted till this morning.
The rain which submerged many houses destroyed valuables worth millions of naira and pulled down many fences.
Victims who attributed the flood to drainage diversion from Cele tuntun area to Obananko road urged the Government to intervene and come to their aid.
