Residents of Ibadan, Oyo State capital have continued to witness scarcity of premium motor spirit, PMS, as queues have resurfaced again.

Radio Nigeria reporter Olukemi Akintunde who monitored the situation in the metropolis reports that many filling stations were under lock while some Independent marketers that have the product sold between 200 to 250 naira per liter.

The few major marketers that sold the product at the official pump price of 165 naira per litre were with long queue of vehicles, motorcycles and Jerry cans .

The motorists who frowned at the situation as it affected their plans for the festive period bore their minds.

Speaking on the development, the Chairman independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN covering Oyo, Osun and kwara states ,Alhaji Bukola Mutiu attributed the hike in price to the high cost of PMS from the Lagos depot which he said was above the government approved price.

Alhaji Mutiu explained that for the past six months they had not loaded from Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation,NNPC Apata depot.

He pointed out that the high cost of the product was responsible for the scarcity as its members were afraid of what to sell.

They however, urged federal government to urgently address the situation.
