Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, has disclosed that some of the suspected terrorists linked to the attack on Saint Francis Catholic Church, Owo, two months ago, have been arrested.

Irabor made the disclosure during a parley with executives and editors of media organisations in Nigeria, on Tuesday.

He said the attackers were apprehended during joint operations involving the Armed Forces, the Department of Security Services (DSS) and the Police.

About 40 people were killed when gunmen attacked the church on June 5, opened fire on the congregation, and also detonated explosives.

Similarly, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has confirmed the arrest of the attackers of St Francis Catholic Church, Owo.

Governor Akeredolu made the disclosure when he hosted the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Ondo State Council led by Chairman Comrade Leke Adegbite. 

Radio Nigeria correspondent reported that Governor Akeredolu disclosed that the owner of the house where the attackers stayed before the June 5 attack in Owo had also been arrested 

He said that government did not spare a moment in trailing the terrorists behind the Owo church attack.

Meanwhile, the Governor has sent a warning to leaders of the Ebira community in the state to caution their youths against venturing into kidnapping.

The Governor said recent reports from victims of kidnap in the state had established that some Ebira youths were part of the kidnap ring terrorizing the state. 

In a remark, The Ondo NUJ Chairman, Comrade Adegbite thanked the Governor for his efforts in ensuring the security of lives of the people of the state.

The NUJ Chairman also appreciated the Governor for the approval of the Weigh-in allowance for journalists and information officers working in the State and Local government service.
