A consultant psychiatrist, Dr Haleem Abdulrahman wants parents to always pay special attention to the mental health of their children. 

He stated this while delivering a lecture at a function held at the Islamic Centre of the University of Ibadan Central Mosque.

Dr Abdulrahman said it was essential for parents to take as a top priority the mental health of their children as such could make or mar their future. 

The guest lecturer while speaking on the topic “Understanding Mental health from the Islamic Perspective” called for a developmental approach to child upbringing, which he said would give what every child requires to excel in future.

The Chairman on the occasion and former local government Chairman in Oyo State, Bashorun Adekunle Oladeji who decried the falling standard of education in Nigeria said the intervention of private schools remains the only live wire that holds the sector.

He lauded the Minbar Group of schools for the continuous setting of standards over the years as the citadel of knowledge’s impacts on the moral, academic and upbringing of children remained undaunting.

In a welcome address, the Director of the Minbar group of schools, Dr Akinwale Akinlabi emphasized that the schools maintained academic excellence as their products are in different higher institutions in and outside the countries.

Dr Akinlabi who explained that the current graduands have all secured admissions to various universities pledged more commitment to the development of the students, as he solicited the continued support of the parents.

The programme was well attended by many dignitaries including the Chief Imam of the University of Ibadan, Professor AbdRahman Oloyede, Senatorial Candidate for Oyo South under All Progressives Congress,  Chief Sarafadeen Alli, the Managing Director,  HMF Construction Limited,  Engr. Idris Adeoye and CEO, Vanguard Pharmacy, Alhaji Taofik Odukoya. 

Highlights of the event included the Walimatul Quran and talent presentations, where students displayed different skills.

Sports and cultural presentations of Nigerian heritage were also showcased to the admiration of parents and guests.
