An Osun State High Court sitting in Osogbo has dismissed the Preliminary Objection raised by Governor Gboyega Oyetola in the suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party against the Governor over the appointment of Caretaker Committee.

The Caretaker Committee is currently running the affairs of Local Government Councils in Osun State and confirmed by the House of Assembly.

Justice Ayo Oyebiyi of the High Court 5, Osogbo, dismissed Oyetola’s objection and adjourned the hearing on the substantive suit till the 23rd of September, 2022.

The PDP Lead Counsel, Mr. Adebayo Alade said “the Preliminary Objection in the suit Number Hos/M.39/2021 instituted by the PDP against the Governor and 74 others on the constitutionality or otherwise of the appointment of the caretaker committee was dismissed by the court”.

The PDP had argued that the appointment of the Local Government Caretaker Committee was in flagrant violation of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which must not be allowed to stand.

PDP had also asked the court to rule that the Local Government Caretaker Committee should refund salaries and allowances collected during the period in office.
