One person has been confirmed dead while 21 people sustained injury in an accident that occurred on Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The accident which occurred early hours on Monday involved a luxury bus and a truck with no registration number on both vehicles.

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Public Education Officer in Ogun state, Mrs Florence Okpe who confirmed the crash said in a statement in Abeokuta said 18 other people escaped unhurt.

Mrs Okpe blamed the crash on excessive speed and mechanical deficiency. 

She explained that the truck driver rammed into the stationed bus and killed the driver of the bus who was under the bus trying to rectify some issues discovered from the vehicle.

Mrs Okpe said the injured victims had been taken to a private Hospital in Mowe for medical attention while the corpse was also deposited at the same hospital.

In a Related development, three persons have died in a fatal crash that occurred on Lagos – Abeokuta expressway.

The FRSC Public Education Officer, Mrs Florence Okpe who confirmed the incident in a statement in Abeokuta said the accident involved a car marked APP541GYs and a motorcycle with registration number TTD017QR.

Pointing out that two persons escaped unhurt, Mrs Okpe attributed the cause of the crash to route violation on the part of the motorcyclist.

She noted that the remains of the Rider and the two pillions who died in the crash had been deposited at Ifo general hospital morgue.

The FRSC Public Education Officer advised Motorists to drive cautiously   and obey traffic rules and regulations.
