Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde wants the Police to be more proactive in intelligence gathering and community policing to curb crimes before they take place.

He said this during an interactive session with the Nigeria Police Oyo State Command held at the Presidential Lodge, Government House, Agodí, Ibadan.

Governor Makinde stressed the need for the police and other sister agencies to rely more on intelligence gathering as a panacea to nip crime and criminality in the bud in society.

He equally called for collaboration among the security agencies in the state to collectively reduce the crime rate.

The Oyo State helmsman, however, reiterated his commitment to rebuild a befitting police station at the Ojoo Area Command police post burnt during ENDSARS protest as soon as the building plan was ready.

Earlier the state’s Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Williams lauded the government for providing various security gadgets and other logistics. 

CP Adebowale Williams pointed out that the reinvigorated security strategies of the agency in the state had reduced crime to the barest minimum.

Governor Makinde later distributed 10 operational vehicles to all the area commands of police in the state for efficient and effective operational activities.
