The wife of the Oyo State Governor, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde, has called on well-meaning Nigerians to support and assist the less privileged in society to make their lives better.

Mrs Makinde stated this while celebrating Nigeria’s 62 independence anniversary with children with special needs and some orphans in Ibadan.

Mrs Makinde appreciated the efforts of the caregivers in different homes across the state.

While wishing residents of the state happy independence, the governor’s wife expressed hope for a better Nigeria saying everyone should work towards achieving a peaceful society.

At the event, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Alhaja Kafilat Olayiwola also called on parents to caution their children against unruly behaviours before, during and after the forthcoming election.

Two beneficiaries, Principal Blind Center Ogbomosho, Mr Muyideen Adedokun and the founder, Jesus Kids Home for Special Needs, Mrs Ololade Adamolekun promised to make judicious use of the gift items.

About 20 homes received food items, toiletries, mattresses and cash.
