The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Osun says the Command recorded 280 accidents with 78 deaths in various categories of accidents between the months of January and September 2022 in the State. 

Osun Sector Commander, Mr Paul Okpe, disclosed this in a remark during the command’s 2022 ember months campaign flagged-off, titled ” Avoid speeding, overloading and unsafe tyres to arrive alive“ held in Osogbo.

Mr. Okpe assured that the command has been able to identify some black spots in the state where accidents are prone and strategic measures have already been taken and there is a good reduction of deaths

The Osun Sector Commander urged motorists to comply with the road traffic regulations especially during the ember months for zero accidents.

He said the command would not spare any road traffic offenders when apprehended and would be allowed to face the wrath of the law. 

In a remark, the Zonal Commanding Officer-in-Charge of Osun, Oyo and Ekiti, Mr. Uakhemen Ojeamiren said yuletide is a period when roads across the country remain busy, due to heavy vehicular movements of Commuters. 

Mr. Ojeamere said the corps would collaborate with other sister security agencies and key stakeholders to ensure a safe road during the ember months.

In an interview, the State Secretary, National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW Comrade Akinsola Osundiya, who said not all motorists on the highways were registered under the union, emphasized that members were being cautioned against excessive intake of alcohol, reckless driving and overloading.
