A suspected armed robber has been apprehended by officers of the Nigerian Police in Ejigbo, Osun state.

The suspect, Adewumi Adewale who was said to have come from Iyana Church Area in Ibadan was arrested while attempting to rob one Yusuf Kazeem, a Point-of-Sale, POS operator of the sum of 2.8million naira.

Confirming the arrest, a police source in Ejigbo said residents around Sasa Eku Osoolo in Ejigbo Local Government Area alerted the police of an attempted kidnap and robbery at about half past ten on Monday evening, noting that the Ejigbo Divisional Police Officer mobilised his men to the scene and subsequently arrested Adewumi Adewale.

The source maintained that the suspect attempted to engage the officers but was eventually overpowered.

The police source, however, said the suspect had been taken to Osogbo Area Command for onward investigation and prosecution.
