The Director-General, National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Mohammed Fadah, has charged the 2022 Batch ‘C’ Stream 1 Corps members to entrench and promote the culture of working together in friendship, peace and harmony with other Nigerians.

Brigadier General Fadah stated this during the swearing-in cermomy of the 2022 Batch ‘C’ Stream 1 Corps Members held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ise-Orun/Emure Ekiti State.

The DG, represented by the NYSC Ekiti State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Mary Chikezie emphasised that the center-peice of the scheme is essentially the promotion of national unity and integration.

He stressed that the scheme’s idea of deploying corps members away from their states of origin is to offer them the opportunity to acquire a broader understanding of the country.

Brigadier General Fadah reiterated the scheme’s commitment to corps members’ socio-economic growth, urging them to take advantage of the Skills Acquisition Entrepreneurship Development, SAED programme and utilise their service year judiciously, which he described as once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

The DG, however, enjoined the corps members to familiarize themselves with the provisions of the NYSC Act and Bye-laws, noting that it will guide their conduct during the service year.

Brigadier-General Fadah also implored the corps members to sustain a high level of discipline and enthusiasm while dissuading them from using the social media to spread fake news and misinformation.

He stated: “You are also enjoined to familiarize yourselves with the provisions of the NYSC Act and the NYSC Bye-Laws. I implore you to sustain the high level of discipline and enthusiasm by remaining compliant with the camp rules and regulations.”

Our correspondent reports that one thousand, four hundred and two corps members deployed to Ekiti State were sworn in at the ceremony.

The event also featured presentations from the cultural troupe who thrilled the audience with their performance.
