Ogun State Police command has set up a political campaign and rally monitoring team towards preventing break down of law and order during the electioneering period.

State Commissioner of Police, Mr Lanre Bankole who made this known in Abeokuta at a conference for senior police officers, said the police would safeguard all venues of political campaign and rallies.

While advising all political parties to abide by the electoral Act, the Commissioner stressed the need for politicians to desist from hate speeches capable of heating up the political temperature in the state.

Declaring the conference open, Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun called on the police authority to always engage politicians on the need to play by the rules.

The Governor urged the senior police officers to come up with modalities and strategies to nip all forms of crimes in the bud and curb violence ahead of the 2023 General Election.

On the recent fire incident at the Abeokuta South office of the Independent National Electoral Commission,  Governor Abiodun said that he had mandated the Commissioner of Police to ensure that all those responsible for the incident were arrested and prosecuted.
