Traders whose shops were affected by a truck laden with fuel have been lamenting their losses with appeals to government and philanthropist organizations and individuals to come to their aid.

“About 6 pm yesterday I was sleeping inside my shop. suddenly I woke up only to hear people shouting. I escaped through the back and sustained an injury in the process. I would have died had I escaped through the main entrance of my shop. Nobody died in the fire. I was selling tokunbo shoes. the goods worth 2 million naira.” Chukwu said.
    

Narrating their ordeals to Radio Nigeria, a shoe trader, Mr Lazarus Chukwu and Emeka Eze said about five million naira worth of goods was lost to the disaster.

Some women who could not hide their grief wept saying their means of livelihood had been lost.

The traders appealed to the government, non-governmental organizations and well-meaning Nigerians to rescue them from the crises.

We don’t have anything again. Fire has ruined us. Please help us; the fire has ruined our business. Please have mercy on us. Please look on us with mercy. We couldn’t take anything to have mercy on us”

Radio Nigeria observed that apart from many shops burnt in the inferno, two transformers were affected by the fire disaster.

It would be recalled that a truck loaded with diesel lost control while descending the road to Apata Bembo junction, capsized and burst into flames.
