The Delta State Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has commended the Nigerian military and paramilitary agencies for the peace being enjoyed in the state in the past seven and half years of his administration.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa stated this in Asaba at the 2022 West African Social Activities Day, held at the 63 Brigade garrison theatre in the state capital.

Dr. Okowa who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government Mr. Patrick Ukah, promised the continued collaboration between the state government, the Army and other security agencies to maintain the peace.

The Commander 63 Brigade, Brigadier General David Saraso, in a speech delivered by the 63 Brigade Garrison Commander Lieutenant Colonel Raphael Adom, noted the annual West African Social Activities was a tradition inherited from the colonial era to celebrate the achievements in military operations with their families.

The occasion witnessed performances by different cultural dance troops; a tug-of-war competition between soldiers and youth corps members; and the recognition of some personnel for outstanding performance.

The event also featured the Beating of the Retreat by the 63 Brigade Army Band, while a bonfire was also lit at the camp to signify the climax of all Military Training Exercise for the year 2022.
